Vanessa Gavalya is a commercial photographer with over fifteen years experience capturing dynamic and unforgettable images of both models and “real people.” Vanessa’s creative skill and exceptional standard of quality have won the respect of clients from start-ups to multinational brands. She and her team have shot campaigns for Dell Computers, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Pizza Hut, Playskool, Frito-Lay and many more. Vanessa is the quintessential “can do” photographer, always on the lookout for a great shot. She thinks on her feet, and works quickly and fluidly. Her confident, upbeat attitude makes for an enjoyable day for everyone on the set. A first generation American of Burmese ethnicity, Vanessa attended the University of Texas, Austin. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in Advertising, graduating with high honors and the distinction of being a Senior Fellow. Vanessa began her career working at advertising agencies, such as Foote, Cone, & Belding in San Francisco, where she gained valuable experience about the client perspective. Vanessa’s interest in photography began in front of the camera--as a model. During her years of modeling, she was exposed to the styles and techniques of countless photographers. Having been on the other side of the lens, she understands how her subjects feel and is able to put them at ease. She started by shooting weddings, family portraits, and actor headshots. She honed her skills on the job, learning to think quickly while shooting, and developed her talent for directing people on set. Her unique ability to capture authentic, natural expressions in the people she photographs is what sets her work apart.
